Strowbridge, Eugene Hunter {I0065} (b. 26 JAN 1879, d. 17 DEC 1962)
Note: Records in Berkeley County Court House show the birth of James and W. S. J. H. on the same date as twins. They also state the death of W. S. J. H. in April. In reality, James and Eugene Hunter were twins and James is the one who died. Hunter had to correct the records prior to filling for Social Security. James was listed on the census report in error.

Hunter's family were the only group to consistently use the "W" in his name. He lived most of his life in White Hall, Virginia.

E. H. Strowbridge

E. Hunter Strowbridge 83, of Clear brook, died today at the Winchester Memorial Hospital. He had been in ill health for several years and a patient in the hospital for the past week.
Mr. Strowbridge was born January 1879, son of the late William and Catherine Adams Strowbridge. He was a retired carpenter, and a life long member of Mount Pleasant Evangelical United Brethren Church.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Bessie Lynn Strowbridge; two daughters, Mrs. Lottie McCormick of Martinsburg, W. Va., and Mrs. Louella Milburn of White Hall; two sons, Kenneth Strowbridge, at home and Jacob Strowbridge of Alben; five grandchildren, Mrs. Patricia Phillips, Mrs. Ruby Sewell, Dr. Dale McCormick, Eugene Milburn and Larry Strowbridge; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 3 P.M. at Omps Funeral Home by the Rev. Arthur Grant and the Rev. William Withers.
Burial will be in Old Stone Church Cemetery.

Strowbridge Services
A funeral service for E. hunter Strowbridge of Clear brook, who died yesterday in the Winchester Memorial Hospital, will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at Omps Funeral Home by the Rev. William Withers.
The body was taken to the residence this morning and will be returned to Omps Funeral Home tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. tonight at home.
Pallbearers will be Garner Baggant, Grover Teets, D.K. Russell, George Yeakley, Ray Marple and Edgar Seal.

Bessie V. Strowbridge

Bessie Virginia Strowbridge, 91, of Sunnyside died Saturday in Kings Daughter Hospital in Martinsburg.

Mrs. Strowbridge was born March 12, 1890 in Frederick County, the daughter of Jacob Hott and Flora Louetta Dick Lynn. She was a member of the Mount Pleasant United Methodist church but in recent years attended Welltown Methodist Church. She was a member of the Welltown United Methodist Church Choir and the Old Stone Church Memorial Association.

Surviving are one son, Jacob E. Strowbridge of Sunnyside; two daughters, Lottie McCormick of Martinsburg W. Va., and Louella Milburn of Frederick County; five grandchildren; eight great grand children and tree great-great-grand children.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 P.M. Tuesday at Omps Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Forrest S. Racey and the Rev. George B. Neas officiating. Burial will be in the Old Stone Church Cemetery.

The Family will receive friends Omps Funeral Service tonight from 7 to 9.

Pall bears will be Grover Teets, Marshall Teets, Donald Cline, Sonny Crosen and George Yeakley.

Strowbridge, Kenneth Lynn {I0067} (b. 7 MAY 1909, d. 12 APR 1966)
Note: Kenneth Lynn was noted for his fine singing voice, he sang and played the piano at many church functions. Everyone said "he could really stroke them keys" from one end to the other. Was the Department manager for A&P and found time to grind coffee when a neighbor or friend came in the store. He owned a wonderful Stone home that was left to his mother. He was known as a fun, and kind person with a passion for life.

K.L. Strowbridge, A & P Department Manager, Dies

Kenneth Lynn Strowbridge, 56 of Clearbrook, died yesterday in the Winchester Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Strowbridge was born May 7, 1909, at White Hall, son of Mrs. Bessie Lynn Strowbridge of Clearbrook, and the late E. hunter Strowbridge. He was the manager of the dairy and coffee department at the Winchester A and P Store. He was employed by them for 20 years.
Prior to his employment at the A and P, he was associated with the Princess Hotel in Atlantic City, N.J. and the McCallister Hotel of Miami, Fla.
He attended White Hall Elementary School and graduated from Handley High School in 1934. He was a member of the Welltown Methodist Church, where he was pianist, and taught the Young Adult Sunday School Class. He was active in the Youth Fellowship and other church activities. He was also a member of the MT. Pleasant Quartet, the Clearbrook Fire Co., and the Methodist Men's club of the Welltown Church.
In 1964 he was voted one of the area's friendliest and most courteous employees in a contest sponsored by the Winchester Evening Star.
Surviving with his mother, are a brother Jacob Strowbridge of Sunnyside; and two sisters, Mrs. Lottie McCormick of Martinsburg, W. Va., and Mrs. Luella Milburn of White Hall.
A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 3 P.M. at the Omps Funeral Home be the Rev. Robert Couch, the rev. Charles Harless, and the Rev. John Ware.
Burial will be in Old Stone Cemetery at Green Spring.
The Family will receive friends tomorrow evening at the funeral home from 7 to 9 o'clock.

Note: Lottie was a dainty woman with allot of sprit. A long time leader of the women's Republican party in Martinsburg, West Virginia and Member of the Methodist church. She out lived all in her family and had great compassion for sweet little dogs.

Lottie F. McCormick, 92, of Martinsburg, W.VA., died Monday, Oct. 27, 2003, in City Hospital, Martinsburg.
Mrs. McCormick was born Nov. 7, 1910, in Frederick County, the daughter of Hunter and Bessie Lynn Strobridge. She was a member of Welltown United Methodist Church. She was a past president of Berkeley County Women's Republican Club from 1958 to 1976 and was election commissioner for several years.
She was a member of the Golden Rule Chapter 69, Order of the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge 65, and the Salvation Army Auxiliary, and City Hospital Auxiliary.
She was recognized as a Distinguished West Virginian in 1976 by Gov. Arch Moore.
She was married to J. Russell McCormick for 72 years.
Surviving with her husband, are a son, Dr. R. Dale McCormick of York, Pa.; two step grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be 1 P.M. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, with the Rev. John E. Wright officiating. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Jacob E. Strowbridge

Jacob E. Strowbridge 64, of Sunnyside Station died Saturday in Winchester Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Strowbridge was born July 26, 1917, in White Hall, the son of hunter E. and Bessie Lynn Strowbridge. He was a retired painter for Howard Shockey and Sons and a member of Old Bethel United Methodist Church.
He was married to Cathryn Unger.
Surviving are his wife; one son Larry Strowbridge of Sunnyside Station; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Lottie McCormick of Martinsburg, W. Va., and Louella Milburn of Winchester. One brother, Kenneth Strowbridge, is deceased.
A funeral will be Tuesday at 11 A.M. at Omps Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Joseph Wright officiating. Burial will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Albert Painter Richard Alabaugh, Carroll Unger, Vernon Unger, Russell Hiett, and Joseph Pent.
The family will receive friends at Omps Funeral Home today from 7 until 9 PM.

McCormick, John Russell {I0071} (b. 24 DEC 1908, d. 11 MAR 2004)
Note: He retired from being a Bonded Locksmith and also had a shop in Martinsburg West Virginia called McCormick's Radiator Shop. He played the Harmonica along with many personal endeavors. A wonderful fun loving person that was the only boy out of eight children. Fond of his sister Mary, she was his favorite sis.

J. Russell McCormick, 95, of Martinsburg, W.VA., formerly of Winchester, died Thursday, March 11, 2004, in City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.VA.
Mr. McCormick was the son of John Washington and Rosie Bell Elliott McCormick. He owned the Radiator and Key Shop in Martinsburg. He was a member of Rock Enon Christian Church in Gore, the Martinsburg Lions Club, Berkeley County Republican Club, the Fraternal Order of Police, and the Retired Men's Chorus. He was a 32nd degree Mason.
He was married to Lottie Strobridge for 72 years. Mrs. McCormick died Oct. 27, 2003.
Surviving are a son, Dr. R. Dale McCormick of York, Pa.; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Six sisters are deceased.
A funeral was Monday at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, with the Rev. Paul C. Stanley officiating. Burial was in Rosedale Cemetery, with Masonic honors by Robert White Lodge No. 67, AF&AM.
