DEATH OF MRS. FRIES
was the Mother of Mrs. Swisher of this City.

White Hall, Va.; Jan. 5. - At 5 o'clock this morning, Mrs. Catherine Fries, a highly respected and well known lady residing here, died after a comparative short illness of pneumonia. Mrs. Fries had only been ill a few days, but gradually grew weaker until this morning when her spirit passed to its reward. Deceased was the widow of the late Michael Fries, who died about 25 years ago, and a daughter of the late Jacob Fries. She is survived by seven children, viz: Hiram Fries, of White Hall; Mrs. Jane Swisher, of Winchester, Mrs. Sarah Clark, Mrs. Rachel Barrett, Mrs. Mary Dix, of the county; Mrs. Ella Hott, of Dayton, Va., and Mrs. Sudie Lynn.
The interment will take place at Old Stone Church, at Greenspring, next Sunday morning at 11 o'cllock, and Rev. S. D. Skelton, of Winchester, will probably officiate.

Mr. John Henretty , of Hagerstown,
died od pneumonia and was brought to
Charles Town for burial Wednesday.
He was a son of Mr. Thomas Henretty,
who died two weeks before at his home
near Zoar. He has a number of friends
here who regret his death.
