Note: David left his fathers home about 1809 and moved his family to Kingwood West Virginia. His farm joined his brothers' Jesse and Samuel. As well as being a farmer, David was a millwright and a stonemason. He also served as Justice of the Peace and was a surveyor for Preston County. He received many grants of land in this area. Being Samuel's eldest son, he seemed to have received many of his qualities. David and Mary were active in the Methodist Episcopal Church. David was 91 or 92 when he died.

Note: Jesse and Sarah moved to Preston County close to his brother David. This property was along the Cheat River and the area was known as Trowbridge Ferry. This is ironic with the meaning of Trowbridge which we learned in the beginning. Jesse was Sheriff of Preston County for many years.
