PVT. Ralph G. Henretty
Relatives in the county were notified last week
of the death of Pvt. Ralph G. Henretty, killed in action
on the battlefront in Italy on February 4. The young
soldier, eighteen years of age, was a son of Mr. and
Mrs. Marshall E. Henretty, of Marshallton, Delaware,
who moved there from Shenandoah Junction about
three years ago. A graduate of the Conrad High School
at Marshallton, Private Henretty attended Charles Town
schools before leaving the county. He would have been
19 years old on February 14, just ten days after he was
killed. He was inducted into the army last June and
received his early training at Fort Wheeler, Ga., and
Fort Meade, Md. In addition to his parents he is survived
by four brothers, Marshall, Jr., Paul, Lyle, and Wayne
Henretty; two sisters, Joy Lee and Virginia Henretty,
all of Marshallton, and his grandmother, Mrs. Blanche Henretty.
He was the grandson of the late Harvey Snyder of Charles Town.
The young man was a member of the Marshallton Methodist Church.
