John G. Gardner Jr.
John Glenn Gardner Jr., 71, of Berryville, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, in a local nursing
home.
Mr. Gardner was born Nov. 10, 1933, in Rippon, W.Va., the son of John Glenn and
Elfrieda Jenkins Gardner. He was retired from the Federal Emergency Management
Agency.
He was a graduate of Shepherd College and a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Charles Town Moose Lodge, Winchester
Eagles, and Berryville VFW Post 9760.
Surviving are a son, John G. Gardner III of Dickson, Term.; two daughters, Leslie
Gardner Kelley of Round Hill and Karen Gardner Johnson of Berryville; three sisters,
Gloria Jones of Berryville, June Baxter of Frederick, Md., and Geraldine Thompson of
Panama City, Fla.; and a grandchild.
Two sisters, Betty Lee and Mary Bauserman, are deceased.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville, with
the Very Rev. Canon Dwight L. Brown officiating. Military honors will be accorded by
Clarke County Honor Guard.
