article dated May 18, 1889.
The 1850 and 1860 census for Berkeley County, VA (now WV), show Richard and Millie (College) Dick residing at Glengary. The 1880 census shows them at Gerrardstown, Berkeley County.
IT IS NOW a documented fact that Richard is the son of Peter & Nancy Garner Dick, per Chancery case papers found on microfilm at the County Clerk's record room. Documentation found by researcher of the Dick family of Frederick County, Virginia and descendent of Richard & Amelia, Jacqueline Renee Milburn on October 9, 2004. Jacqueline is the 4th great granddaughter of Richard Dick.
Richard is mentioned as being one of the children and heirs of Peter Dick Sr. wife Nancy in 2 Chancery cases involving Peter Dick Heirs:
1. Isaac Dick hr vs. Peter Dick hrs local reel 408 image 283 - LVA reel 408
2. Peter Dick hr vs. Peter Dick hrs local reel 229 image 784 - LVA reel 198
Richard Dick also signed his own marriage bond and his signature can also be found on papers within the Chancery cases, giving us a pretty good clue Richard was educated.
