James Roper
Roper, James - Son of Nicholas Roper. This photo is in the family bible of James Michael and Rebecca Roper. We're 99% sure this photo is James Roper.
James Michael Roper
Roper, James Michael - Eldest Son of James and Elizabeth Laley Roper. The original photo is Tin Type taken as a wedding portrait. James Michael Roper married Rebecca Jane Milbourn on January 20, 1867 on the Harpers Ferry bridge. Rebecca's father, Oliver P. Milbourn objected to the marriage, this forced the young couple to wed in the adjoining state of Maryland.
Rebecca Jane Milbourn Roper
Rebecca Jane Roper 1895Roper, Rebecca Jane Milbourn - Original photo is Tin-Type taken as a wedding portrait. Rebecca married James Michael Roper (above) on January 20, 1867 against her fathers wishes. She was the daughter of Oliver P. and Mary Jones Milbourn both formerly of Loudoun county, Virginia.
Photo to right was taken for Christmas in 1895 3 years before her death October 8, 1898. Photo was restored by Jackie Milburn.
Franklin Garfield Roper
Franklin Garfield Roper in piecesRoper, Franklin Garfield - Son of James Michael and Rebecca Jane Milbourn Roper. Born July 6, 1877. Franklin "Frank" married Bessie August Henretty on March 17, 1906. He died April 4, 1939 the night before the sell of his personal property. No doubt he died of a broken heart for times were hard and he knew all to well the Roper tradition. Shortly after his death Cat-tail Farm was sold. THe farm ended up in his possession then passed onto his daughter and only living heir. By urges of his widow the farm was reluctantly sold by his daughter Helen Rebecca. (per family lore)
Photo to the right is the same as on the left. After many years of being stored in an uncontrolled environment (such as the attic) and the fact it was printed on acidic paper the portrait fell into many pieces when removed from storage. The pieces were individually scanned and pieced back to what you see on the left. Restored by Jackie Milburn.

They were wed in Harpers Ferry on September 24, 1864.
